Filling in at the last minute for the Pat Malone Trio, the Chuscales and Mina Fajardo Dance Company featured a diversely talented exhibition of flamenco music and dance at the Cava Lounge in the Eldorado Hotel on Saturday evening in Santa Fe.
Playing a mostly original set of traditional flamenco dance music with a contemporary, progressive feel incorporating hints of jazz, the Chuscales and Mina Fajardo Dance Company blends highly entertaining dance ability with outstanding musical skill. After the solid solo guitar song “La Malagueña Chorrillo de Agua” by Jose Valle Chuscales. the Chuscales and Mina Fajardo Dance Company proceeded to play the nicely done song “La Columbiana (Flamenco)“, followed by the energetic dance and musical number “Theme Song Tangos“. Continuing on with the enchanting Isaac Abanese cover “Asturias (Leyenda)“, the Chuscales and Mina Fajardo Dance Company rounded things out with the grooving tune “Tangos/Rumba del Rey Moro” and the lively “Fandango de Huelva“.
A truly international group, hailing from around the globe, including Spain, Japan, Mexico, and the United States, and led by nimble, rhythmically-inclined guitarist Jose Valle Chuscales, the Chuscales and Mina Fajardo Dance Company members include dancers Mina Fajardo and Montze Bdiaz, Alejandro Valle Fajardo (cajon percussionist), and Fernando Barros Lirola (vocals). Be sure to check out the extensive list of CD’s by Jose Valle Chuscales, as well as impressive flamenco dance classes offered by Mina Fajardo. Santa Fe Music Reviews thanks Jose Valle Chuscales for the hospitality, the Chuscales and Mina Fajardo Dance Company for great all-around entertainment, and Cava Lounge in the Eldorado Hotel for the nice venue, drinks, and service.
